Mid-October

It's been a crazy couple of weeks. So now I will try to bring you up to speed.

First off, it was great to get my Wish Kid, David, off to the WWE to meet Triple H. We had a going away party for him at Lost in Fun. That was a blast. Then they went to the event in Wichita and I got to talk with them the next week at their house. What a great family! They had a blast.

I've covered a couple more football games for the Journal-Star. I did the Pius X-Norris game and then this past Friday covered the Kearney-Southwest game. That late game had a super tight deadline. I'm glad Southwest hung on for their win or it would have been a difficult story to change.

Star City Sports still has me doing some articles. After the Martial Arts last month, I'm working on a feature on a gymnast now. I also did a story on a couple of artists that show at the Haydon for L. It's my first story in there for quite awhile.

At fulltime work, ie the Groundwater Foundation, we wrapped up our Green Sites grant with a big push. I was very happy with the work I was able to accomplish at the end. I've now been able to focus on my Growing Groundwater Awareness in Nebraska project. We had spirit week this past week there too. That was a lot of fun.

At UNL teaching, the student just completed their second speeches. They were good but their papers weren't so much. I hope they do better on the grant paper that is up next.

Colbi took me along to an Ari concert during the week one week. That was nice to spend some time with her with a musician she really likes. She also had homecoming lately. Can't believe she is already a sophomore at Southeast! Wow!

We went to a surprise birthday party for my cousin Jill, who turned 40. That was fun. We also helped Bryce celebrate his 1st birthday!

Then the Huskers! Everyone knows how much I hate Kansas State. It was great to see them get to 5-0 and put a beatdown on the Wildkitties. Lori and I then went to the Texas game hoping for some redemption but it wasn't to be. Too slow of a start really hurt them, then a fumble and dropped passes and we could never catch back up. Quite a return by Hagg near the end of the game gave us all hope. Let's hope now we can find a way past Oklahoma State.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
