Fever Pitch

Quite a few people have mentioned to me that I should watch the movie, Fever Pitch, with Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon. I knew that it was a baseball movie but I really didn't know what it was about.

Last night, I saw that it was on tbs on-demand so I decided to check it out. It was great. It was about a huge baseball fan, Fallon, who lets baseball get in the way of his relationships. Well actually he is a huge Boston Red Sox fan. His whole apartment is filled with Red Sox stuff everywhere from bath towels to shower curtain to plates to cups. He has had season tickets and it is a passion for him. Once the season starts coming around he gets together with his friends to decide who will get the other ticket that he has and go to the game with him (he has two near home plate). He makes them do silly stuff for the Yankee games! He makes a crack about those that don't do well will get the Royals tickets!

Anyway there is a lot of action at the ballpark and a lot about the actual games and the Curse of the Bambino.

But of course there is also the romance with Drew and that is fun too and has some good twists like the time that he decides to spend the night going out with her instead of going to the Red Sox-Yankees game. The Red Sox are behind 7-0 and then they rally in the ninth to win 8-7 and Fallon can't believe that he went out with her instead of missing the biggest comeback in Boston history. So the breakup occurs.

The end of it is hilarious and a great way for it to finish! Great great closing!

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
