Dr. Tom

I always remember listening to Husker games on the radio when I was little and who was the coach, Dr. Tom. My oldest television memory of Husker football is watching the Orange Bowl that Dr. Tom went for two and lost. I was crushed and I just remember seeing the look on his face. I saw that same look on Saturday when he was on the sidelines. He seemed lost and didn't know where to turn. He seemed uncomfortable being on the field that is named after him.

Tuesday, when he was named the new A.D., he didn't have that look. He was confident and secure and back home. I couldn't believe when he was helping at Creighton. He is a Husker! It was time to put him where he needed to be.

Here is what I think will happen with the football situation:

Osborne has some ideas already and then will contemplate on them for awhile like all great leaders. Then he will go to Coach Callahan and tell him his thoughts. He will give him some options on putting this ship on the right path (getting rid of Cosgrove will be at the top of the list. He is a friend but it needs to be done). If Callahan is willing to take those steps he will keep his job. Yes that is what I said. He will keep his job. I think Callahan is a planner and an organizer like Dr. Tom and he likes that about him. Now he just needs the right people to make those plans happens.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
