Make A Wish

Lori and I had the chance to help with the silent auction at Bo Pelini Kickoff Dinner last night for Make a Wish.

We've been doing it since it first started a few years ago. I'm not sure how long that has been. It has really grown but yet stayed true to itself. They now have corporate sponsors for the social hour and other people that have helped with the costs. I remember those first years helping get all of the auction items together. Many of the same people are the people that are donating to the silent auction yet today including the shooting of the Der Veiner Schleinger at the game.

When Lori and I were walking out the door I said, remember when it was me, Bret, Colbi, Sofia and Milo (Jane Griffin's kids) blowing up balloons. There is a photo of the four of them helping. They've come a long ways since then.

At the end of the night they do a thing where you can raise your bid ticket to support a certain amount. I remember the first year they tried that I think they had a few takers at $100 and many at $50. Last night there was a guy that said $7,500! Then there were others at $2,500. And more than 20 at $250. Amazing support and change!

This year it was at the Champions Club. But it still had a really good feel. Thanks to everyone for their support.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
