Let's start out with talking about the drive out. We made it as far as Ogallala on Friday night after driving through some heavy rains that were horrible. I hate driving in whiteouts!
Saturday morning we got up at a decent time to drive to the Fox and Hound in Littleton, Colorado. I didn't know what to expect when my cousin Greg said that it was a Husker place for the day to watch the game. I will just say -- amazing. It was all Husker all the time. As we pulled up everyone going in was wearing red. The waitress were wearing red. Greg got us a great spot in front of the big screens and it was a great three hours.
After the game we went to the mall and had fun there too.
Afterwards we drove back to Greg's house up in the mountains and I didn't think the Trailblazer was going to adjust to the air difference. It struggled to get to his beautiful house 8,600 feet up. We then ate some amazing pizza (New York style in Denver) and then played Battle of the Sexes board game before I got super tired and fell asleep on the floor.
After a restless night, we got up and made our way to the 10K that started at Invesco Field. I was kind of disappointed because I had to walk/rest too much. First my right shoulder cramped up and then I just couldn't get the air in like usual. Not sure if it was the altitude or not but whatever it was...I struggled. But some of the views were great as we ran from outside Invesco (home of the Denver Broncos) to the Pepsi Center (home of the Colorado Avalanche/Denver Nuggets) to Coors Field (home of the Colorado Rockies) and then back to Invesco. In each case we got to run on the sidelines so it was a cool view.
It was also a beautiful day. I still came close to my normal time. Without my cousin Greg pushing me I wouldn't have finished as high as I did.
