Growing up I never hated the Oklahoma Sooners. It was like since I was from Nebraska and a huge Husker fan we were expected to dislike them and the Boomer Sooner! But they had so much talent and even though they were getting into trouble left and right the rivalry was awesome.
It's too bad they were so horrible during the 1990s. I think if they hadn't been so bad our meetings each year wouldn't have ended. Our rivalry would have stayed alive and we would play each year and wouldn't that be fun! Maybe someday it will come back again.
As for last night's championship game, I was pulling for them. Not just because I had them in the contest with the family (one that Colbi won with 24 points by the way with Lori and I tying for second with 23 and Bret with 11) but I love the style that they play with. I got as excited as when I watch a Husker game to see both their offense and defense take the field. I'm not sure what happened to their offense. I'm sure not having Murray hurt bigtime at running back. He is a gamebreaker and would have been huge down by the goaline but they had plenty of time to prepare without him. I can't wait until they come here next year. I'm so excited to go. It's going to be a tremendous atmosphere because I'm sure they will be ranked near the top again.
