5150

While I was growing up, I would shoot a ton of baskets in our driveway by myself. It's probably why I never became one of the best players in Crete High School history because it was by myself. I never really learned the fine art of shooting over another person that well. (I made the varsity for a couple of years but that was about it). Anyway during that time I had a boombox with a cassette player. I played a lot of music on that boombox but I played one of them a lot -- Van Halen 5150. It probably drove Mr. Tisher (who died last year) crazy as I probably had it turned up a little too loud at times. Best of Both Worlds rocked! But there were a lot of great songs on that cassette. Maybe it was just because I played it over and over and over again so I knew every word of every song. So anyway, I still have the cassette. It is downstairs somewhere amongst a hundred other ones that I will struggle to ever play again without a working cassette boombox. Last night while I was searching for some new music on the web, somehow that album popped up. Divine intervention I like to think. So anyway, I downloaded it and will be able to play it on my mp3 player. How cool is that!

Oh heavens. I had this same album blaring in my eardrums while riding to school with my brother in his 66 SS Chevelle. My two brothers sat in front while I sat in back and of course, they turned up the volume on me all the time. It was this album, OU812, White Lion, AC/DC, etc. My eardrums have yet to recover.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
