We went to the horse races in Lincoln on Friday night. Lori's work sponsors one of the races one night of the year so we go. We always enjoy it. We always have a set way of doing betting. For one, we don't beat more than $2 on any one horse in any one race. Most of the time we bet the favorite to show. That means that if the horse finishes first, second or third we get our money back plus maybe .40. We are always just hoping to break even and have some fun. Last night we decided to add picking a favorite name that jumped out at us into the mix. In the second race, we both spied a horse called SuperChocolateChip. In her last race, she threw her jockey from the horse. We knew it was the right one and the odds were in our favor as it went from the gate at like 16-1. She got off to an ok start but then came flying at the end to win us $31. So, of course, we were set for the night. Out of the 9 races, we didn't win with one of the two horses that we bet on only twice so it was a great night.
Tonight, we are headed to KC for Alex Gordon Bobblehead night. The Royals have been playing well, winning five of their last six, so hopefully they can come out with a win tonight.
