Lori and I went to see political analyst David Gergen at the Lied Center tonight. He gave a great talk about where he sees the current election heading and the landscape that is in front of us. Gergen has worked in the White House for four different presidents and is a very smart man.
Some things I took away from the talk:
Gergen is a big fan of McCain, but not at all of Palin.
Gergen says someone he really respects says that Obama is super smart. That is something I hadn't heard before. I knew that he was smart but he basically said he was a genius.
Gergen said if the United States isn't careful we won't even be in the world discussion in 2050. That is kind of scary to think that my next 40 years could be that bad.
He is a big fan of getting the best teachers to teach in tough areas. I'm for that as well. He is also for a two-year committment from young adults to give of themselves, either though military or other area back to the country. I like that ideas as well.
