mid week

I always like Wednesday's. You feel good about what you have accomplished so far this week and still have a few days to get things done.

Speeches have gone well for the most part in class. There have been some good ones and others that are forgetable.

I had an interview for a full-time job today. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I'm still looking at the options.

Tomorrow night Lori and I are going to see David Gergen at the Lied Center. I'm anxious to hear his thoughts on the campaigns.

One political note, I'm still not sure who I'm going to vote for. I waver back and forth like every other day for president of the united states. Some of the things Obama has been doing lately have bothered me. Some of his past associations are not good (at least far as I can tell that the truth is). But when you go around the country saying that you are for the middle class and will champion their issues and then you hold a $28,000 per plate dinner with the Hollywood elite I don't think that is a good picture. I know that you need that money to support your campaign but it's kind of hypo as well. Please stop trying to get out of the lipstick comment too.

Not sure which one you're referring to, but I thought you should know that McCain used the "lipstick" analogy himself when referring to Sen. Clinton.

He just seems to have "forgotten" that part.

Looks like that link doesn't work. The LA Times said this:

Meanwhile, McCain may have conveniently forgotten (hey, the dude's, like, really old) that he once used the same analogy in a 2007 Chicago Tribune article about Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's healthcare plan. And I didn't hear anything about Hillary demanding an apology.

"I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," McCain is quoted as saying about Clinton's proposal.

This is the comment I was referring to that Obama made just three days ago. What I meant but just let it go....

"It's not about John McCain or Sarah Palin. It's not about Paris or Britney. It's not about lipstick. It's not about pigs. It's about you," Obama said. "The ways of Washington must change and they must change now and that's why I'm running for president. We have to change the system ... We have to change the Karl Rove of politics -- the politics that divide the country, where phony debates and lies spin a campaign ... The change we need is the change in our policies and the change in politics."

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
