Reflecting back to Saturday

After spending four hours in a car by myself going to and from Kearney for a DTV presentation, it gave me a chance to think about Saturday's game.

I used to get super nervous thinking that the Huskers were going to lose and I was afraid that I would lose sleep over it. Starting with the Solich era and then moving into the Callahan times I really wanted them to win and would stress over them losing. My mindset has changed quite a bit. I still like watching games with people that really truely want them to win and it drives me crazy when people speak back about them (support your team!) but in the third quarter of the game I thought, you know I just like watching them play.

It seems like Husker Nation has come back together with Bo and Tom in the fold. I'm sure people will start getting negative and everything that goes with it but for me it is just fun being a fan. Supporting them win or lose. I just want them to play hard and have fun playing. Of course there are people out there, including Jason Peter, who say they aren't playing hard. I believe that for sure the defense was once again. I saw Cody Glenn and Phillip Dillard having fun slapping each other around. I saw Suh having a good time running down the field. I saw a wide reciever, Will Henry, having a crushing block on a punt return. You can't fake excitement and a joy for the game. That was lost last year and most of the year before. You can see it in the players that they want that back so badly. A big win over a big team will do that and give them confidence.

I will stick with them through thick and thin. I will be at the Missouri game and I will stay till the end no matter what happens and right now I think that will be a loss. But I will still enjoy the team of my state -- the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
