It was quite a weekend around the house. Saturday was our big day to do our Christmas power shopping. It is always a fun time as we try to get as many people in the family done one day. We have our list all together and have an idea of what we are going to get and hope that we don't have to push anyone over to get to it. I think we did fairly well. I can say that by looking at the huge pile of presents under the tree!
We helped at the Make a Wish Christmas party on Sunday but it wasn't without an adventure of sorts. We were supposed to get to the event at Auld at 1 p.m. so we knew with communion at church as well as Pastor Poppe giving the sermon that we needed to have something ready when we got home. So we set the kitchen timer to bake some chicken noodles. Well when we got home the oven hadn't started. So we bundled up (man it is cold out there) and ventured to Runza for a quick lunch and then on to the event. The line wasn't bad at Runza but if you've been there they give you a number and then you have to come back and get your food (usually within a couple of minutes). Well the time kept dragging on and on and I kept going back for ketchup to get our supply up at the table. Then we finally saw someone come in that was like 10 minutes after us get our food. I finally approached the counter and no one was there to help. I waited there for like 2 minutes trying to make eye contact with the people in the back and finally the girl came up. I said, we are still waiting for our order but then she said I don't have any orders to give out. So obviously they messed it up. About three minutes later we had our food finally but by then we were running super late. We finally got to Auld at 1:25 or something like that. We missed Santa but it looked like a good time was had by all.
My sister got engaged this weekend too so we ran out to Mike's new house near Blue Stem Lake. They've done a great job with it and I'm glad my sister is so happy.
