I had a feeling that it was going to happen today.
After going on the road and getting a great scoring effort from McCray and winning against Baylor last week, beating the Bears on a neutral floor was going to be tough.
What I found the most amazing was that the TV announcers had Baylor as the favorite as well. They seemed to be surprised that Nebraska was even playing with a more talented Bears team even though Nebraska had the better record on the season. They were raving about Baylor's offense in the first half even though they had scored just 30 points. I was totally confused listening to them the entire game. With this one game Baylor had brought it all together and now they were on the verge of winning the whole tournament. What? I was so confused with it all day and felt like Nebraska never had a chance.
Well the difference in my mind was that the Huskers couldn't make a shot in the second half while Baylor shot nearly 70 percent.
That is what I saw with our team as well. It's all about making baskets. My Sharks are going to play a different style next year. We are going to get more shots up, press and fast break. The reason is if you are going to get off just 30 shots in a game and make just 10 percent of them then you are going to be lucky to get into double digit. But if you get off 60 then look where you are at the same percentage.
OK back to the Huskers. I never felt like this team was an 8-8 team so I was very happy with the year that they had. I'm anxious to see what they do next year with some big men back in the mix so teams won't be able to take advantage of that. Losing Velander (no big loss after a disappointing second half of the season) and likewise for Harley but Ade will be a loss because of his athleticism. But there are some young players ready to fill in I believe and I could see them winning 10 games in the league next season.
