Sunday and run

We had the parents over to celebrate our anniversary today. I grilled some great New York Strips from Hy-Vee. Later in the afternoon, I needed to run. I'm building up to the 10K at the first part of June. I was hoping to use the bike path to my advantage and run to the K markings.

Well I had Lori drop me off in an area that I thought had them. But when I got there there wasn't a post. So I had to walk for awhile and then I found a mile posting but not a K. I knew there was one somewhere nearby so I kept walking and finally I found the 4K and started running. Soon I passed the 3K and then kept going expecting to find the 2K and then I was going to turn around and head back. But I just kept going, instead finding the 1.5 mile marking and then the 1 mile marking. Ugh. So then I just turned around (like Forrest Gump) and ran back to the 3 mile marking. So in all I think I ran close to 3.7 miles or something like that. I ran for 35 minutes so that I about right. I'm not running for speed at all. I just hope that I will be able to run the six miles. It think I could have done 4 today if I was frustrated with the markings. Anyway, next time I will know better and I will just run from the 3 mile mark to the 1 and then back again because that should be about 40 minutes. Sorry for the long ramble!

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
