oh Sunday

This morning got off to a great start! It was a nice relaxing Sunday morning.

The only problem overnight was one of the dreams I had. For some reason I was in Iraq as either part of a touring musical group or as an elite assassin. I'm not sure which one though. Anyway we had a guy driving us to the airport to leave the country but we knew we were on dangerous roads. As he drove I was in the backseat of the SUV with a bunch of other people. As we got out of the green zone there were fields just like in Nebraska. Then all of a sudden these security trucks came flying our direction on the two-lane road followed by an helicopter. The next thing we knew there was a thud on the hood of the vehicle and our driver looked worried. Then AK-47 shots rung out from our left (my side of the vehicle) and then suddenly bullet hole appeared in the windshield and on the side of the SUV. Then I woke up. It was 4 a.m. and I was glad I was in America! After getting back to sleep I had another dream where I was riding in the back of a car with Colbi. The only problem was Bret was driving. If you don't know Bret is 10. I didn't seem that concerned about it though as he was driving us to meet up with Lori. Then it suddenly hit me, BRET IS DRIVING. I calmly just said, hey Bret why don't you just pull over up here on the highway and I'll drive. You are probably tired. And he did and I woke up and it was 6 a.m. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back to sleep.

Anywho, I made a great lunch of a pulled chicken sandwich. Yumm....then I challenged Bret to a game of around the world in basketball. It's one of my best games because growing up I shot a lot of baskets by myself and played a lot of Around the World. Bret would win the first game of the best 2 out of 3. Then I won the second game. Then it came down to the third game and we were both on the last spot when he made the shot. Yikes! I lost! I don't like to lose.

This afternoon I went for a long run. I went 18 minutes heading down towards 27th Street and the bridge and then towards the skate park. I made it past the skate park this time though, past the shelter and close to the next road. On the way back though it got really tough and I had a hard time getting a breath so I finally had to walk from the Pioneer crossover to the hwy 2 light. I started running again but found it hard and had to walk. Then I ran again to 40th, walked for awhile and then ran up the hill to the house. That was all done in 40:17 and now I am exhausted but I'm going to settle in and make some supper and watch Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs pitch against the Cardinals.

On one other note, keep one of my photographers, Josh Nix, in your prayers. The last I knew his mom said he was headed down to Jamaica. SEE PHOTO ABOVE. The problem is that Hurricane Dean is bearing down on the little island. That is it near the eye of the hurricane. You can click on the photo and make it larger. That was at like 5:45 Central Time.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
