Horse races

The family went to the horse races at State Fair Park last night. We had a great time. Lori's work sponsored a race so that was fun. We got off to a hot start when we picked the right horse to show in the 2nd race of the night, the first race that we bet on. Most of the night we just betted the show to show so that way at least we just won our money back or maybe more. It was fun because at one point we won money back on like 4 straight races, unlike last year when we didn't win a single thing and every ticket was bad. On the final race, we again picked a horse to show but then we also took the horse with the worst odds to win. Then that horse was a late scratch (I think the jockey had to go to the bathroom or something) and so we had to scramble to pick another horse. We did and it almost came in a winner. It ended up finishing third so that was close.

I went for a run this morning but after about the two-mile mark and after being on a great pace my right calf tightened up on me. I think it is just a cramp though from not enough fluids. I'll try again tomorrow to run the full 3-mile route.

So it begins...

My schedule starts picking up again today as the class I teach at UNL (JGen 300) starts. I'm teaching on Tuesday's and Thursday's this semester from 9:30-10:45. I hope I have a great class like last semester. We will see. This will be my third semester teaching the class so I feel a lot more comfortable heading into it. I have all of the weeks figured out and the days will be much busier because I'm trying to pack the three days into two. Maybe one of the students will bring me an apple!
